Heartbreak

I sit awake
In the darkness of night
Scared and alone.
Afraid of death
More afraid of life.
Memories of the past
Thoughts of the future
Sitting, thinking, staring aimlessly
Into space, for no purpose at all but fear
As the night of fear vanishes
A new day of pain and sorrow arise
The silence of a bringing dawn
Shatters my mind as I stare
Into the emptiness of my life.
My heart deep and dark
Buried away from all to see
My eyes glossy , Covered by a shield
keeping my own pain,
The pain in my mind and heart
