Amazon.com Contest...

Last week I had posted a message stating that I was in a WOW moment, but could not share why. Now that the results have been released I can share my WOW to sullen moment with everyone. First off sullen may not be an appropriate word, I am actually still in a daze and unsure of how I am feeling. Hence the blog, this will help me to compartmentalize and move on to the next project.

Irony Coast Productions has helped me to see many new talents I have, this including writing. For the company to get a leg up and start progressing to it's first feature they have been entering contests, but also this helps train some of us so in the future they can better utilize the talent and have us where we will suit the company and vice versa. It really is a huge win win situation for me because since day one of meeting them I have helped write, and even directed 2 spots (More on those later) as well as acted in several of the things they produce including the award winning short "Happy Fathers Day". Anyways back to the Amazon contest. The group came up with several awesome concepts, including one that me and Dinky wrote and the group perfected. It was amazing to be in this process, this is where I feel I started learning alot more about the behind the scenes in film production. From set design to boom mic.

The concept me and Dinky developed was based on the logo "From A to Z" and is here

Last week Dinky receives an email stating we have made the semi-finals, which means get a waiver for EVERYONE who appeared on the video. Finalists were to be announced today, and we were not on them. We lost our chance for 20 grand ... Yet at the same time I am extremely thrilled we were on the honorable mentions. I feel a bit detached from the reality of what we came up with, we had a solid commercial that made the top 50 and I was a part of this process...yet we did not win. At the same time I have watched every single one that made the cut , 2 of the final 5 I think are not worthy of the finals but that being said out of all 50 , ours is not either. There were so many incredible commercials and yes the one we did was great, there were better. It is a weird feeling, but now its time to move on, and cross our fingers on the post it notes. We will get there, one day. Irony Coast is oozing with talent, and Im just happy to be involved.

There , I feel better.
